■新型コロナウイルス、世界の感染者536万人余で死者34万人超 アメリカ、ブラジル訪問の外国人の入国停止

　アメリカのジョンズ・ホプキンス大学の日本時間25日午前３時時点の集計によりますと、新型コロナウイルスの感染が確認された人は世界全体で536万841人、亡くなった人は34万3364人となっています。
　このうち感染者が最も多い国はアメリカで163万2721人、次いで、ブラジルが34万7398人、ロシアが34万4481人、イギリスが26万916人、スペインが23万5772人、イタリアが22万9858人となっています。
　亡くなった人が最も多い国もアメリカで９万7424人、次いでイギリスが３万6875人、イタリアが３万2785人、スペインが２万8752人、フランスが２万8219人、ブラジルが２万2013人となっています。
　一方、南米のブラジルでは、新型コロナウイルスの感染者数が34万人を上回るなど感染が急速に広がっており、アメリカ政府は、ブラジルを訪れた外国人の入国の受け入れを停止すると発表し、警戒を強めています。
　ブラジルでは、新型コロナウイルスへの感染が確認された人は24日時点で34万7000人を超え、死者はこのところ１日におよそ1000人増えていて、合わせておよそ２万2000人に上っています。
　とりわけ、都市部で貧しい人たちが密集して暮らす地区を中心に感染が急速に広がっていますが、ボルソナロ大統領は、人々の生活が立ちゆかなくなるとして経済活動を再開させる方針を打ち出しています。
　こうした事態を受けて、アメリカ政府は24日、ブラジルを２週間以内に訪れたことがある外国人の入国の受け入れを一時的に停止すると発表しました。この措置はアメリカ東部時間の28日から適用され、アメリカ国民やその家族などは対象になりません。
　ホワイトハウスのケイリー・マケナニー報道官は発表の中で、「今回の措置はブラジルを訪れた外国人が感染源になることを防ぐためだ」と説明し、ブラジルでの感染拡大への警戒を強めています。
　アメリカ政府はこれまでに、中国やイラン、ヨーロッパ各国から入国する外国人に対して、同様の措置をとっています。
　また、日本政府は４月３日から、ブラジルに２週間以内に滞在した外国人について、入国を拒否する措置をとっています。

While there was little doubt that typhoon Haiyan was going to blow eastward, the exact path of the storm remains unclear.

As with other recent big storms in the Philippines, Haiyan is expected to remain in the upper 90s. It has moved south around 100 miles (160 kilometers) -- far beyond the 90-degree (50-degrees) limit of the current system.

But according to weather forecasters with the Japan Meteorological Agency, the storm is expected to intensify, possibly heading towards Japan.

The storm is projected to linger in the southern Pacific, moving westward toward the west-northeast from the Philippines on Saturday, bringing severe wind and rain, according to the JMA

The typhoon is expected to remain a category 4 storm, a powerful category 2 or 3 storm when it forms in the sea.

The storm system has had at least a 60 percent chance of intensifying, according to data by meteorologists from 10 nations -- the Philippines, Japan, China, Vietnam, China, South Korea, the U.S., Britain, the Netherlands and Canada.

In a statement, Simon Stevens, the chief executive of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), welcomed reports about the "distorted and ill-judged" allegations made by NHS workers.

"It is important to make it clear that the RCGP opposes pay fixing and all doctors in this country should be treated with respect," he wrote.

"It is also important to understand what are known risks – this includes the possibility of the wrong sort of patient suffering, which should be covered by insurance, and the difficulties this may cause to patient care."

The RCGP, which represents more than 50,000 doctors in England, says such claims undermine their work for patients, and create the perception that they are untrustworthy and don't represent the majority view in their own fields.

"I've been saying for years that the 'doctor-pay system' is about protecting the public purse and this is one of the latest manifestations," said its general secretary, Dr Chris Stephens.

"It has the very good point that no one outside the RCGP would know who they work for and where they are getting NHS treatment.

"The idea of paying all doctors the same amounts is a fantasy and one that is contrary to our understanding of how we pay for treatment."

The RCGP says it has been forced to pay £4.6m in fines in its 15 years of working together, or about 50p a minute per practice, and the sums range from small practices in the south of England to more prestigious institutions in north London.

On Tuesday, MPs were told how the pay dispute had been taking place for a number of years, with the NHS taking action against some doctors who had been making unsupervised visits.

Under the agreement, all the doctors employed must have one-on-one time at hospitals to discuss potential patients and discuss what options are available to patients. All patients, including the patients from whom the GP was making the visits, are entitled to have their own individual conversations at home.

The RCGP says the agreement for the "one-on-one" part of the practice visits should be ended by 1 May 2014.

In a statement to Sky News, the RCGP said it was currently considering proposals for a national standard practice visit and that the amount of time and space is for an individual practice to determine.
