アメリカのジョンズ・ホプキンス大学の集計によりますと、22日の１日当たりの新規感染者数は約10万8000人と前日の10万6000人を超え、最多となりました。特に深刻なのがブラジルで、１日当たりの新規感染者数は２万人を突破。アメリカの約２万4000人に迫っています。
新規感染者数が多い国を並べると、ブラジルやチリ、メキシコ、ペルーが上位10カ国に名を連ねており、中南米地域での感染拡大が鮮明。各国とも外出制限や都市封鎖などの政策をとっているものの、その日暮らしの低所得者を中心に、外に出ざるを得ない人たちが多いことが拡大の原因です。

The shooter, identified by several witnesses as the same man who murdered his longtime boyfriend, was taken into custody near the scene of the shooting, according to state police.
MICHELLE MCCARRICK:
She was at the scene with her 7-year-old and another child when the incident occurred.
The other child was lying on his own as police were conducting a welfare check, according to state police Sgt. Tom Fitzgerald.
They heard the shot come in from the street and they were alerted to it just as a neighbor in the area came over the street.
DANIEL JUNKIN:
I heard five gunshots and I started running down the street, but then it got dark.
SUSAN MCCULLOUGH:
I just ran to the sidewalk and the kids were in there. I can tell, when you look at the house, you're in shock.
DANIEL JUNKIN:
My son had a 9 mm handgun when he came home from school last weekend and he shot up my house in a matter of minutes.
SUSAN MCCULLOUGH:
They were shot through the door and into the street. He was also armed with a crossbow.
DANIEL JUNKIN:
And then when they went to find their neighbors who were home, they found these people. They were shot through the door as they tried to get a closer look at them.

The mother and her 7-year-old son were found dead by neighbors who called for help.

It was in the backyard. This little boy was sleeping and a bunch of his cousins were home that day from kindergarten so he stayed home and his mom took him to day care in case he had some troubles with his school.

I think it was just crazy for him. I mean you just don't know how bad your life could be, like a year from now, and to know that your son died in the midst of that chaos is just crazy.
