　沖縄県は25人で、20人を超えるのは10月20日以来。これとは別に県は23日、アメリカ海兵隊基地「キャンプ・ハンセン」（金武町など）で働く日本人基地従業員３人と、別の従業員の家族１人の計４人が新たにオミクロン型変異ウイルスに感染したと発表しました。県内でのオミクロン型感染は計10人となりました。また、キャンプ・ハンセンではさらに９人が新型コロナに感染し、クラスター（感染者集団）は計232人となりました。
　キャンプ・ハンセン以外にもアメリカ軍から県に対し、アメリカ海兵隊基地「キャンプ・コートニー」（うるま市）で９人など、計18人の感染報告がありました。
　オミクロン型感染の10人は、９人がキャンプ・ハンセンにかかわりがあり、１人はアメリカ海兵隊基地「キャンプ・シュワブ」（名護市）の日本人基地従業員。沖縄県は、複数の基地で別々の感染源によりオミクロン型が広がっている可能性があるとみています。
